Monday was brainstorming and thinking about the overall look of a performance (a musical!) and Tuesday, I don't recall what or if I did art. The piece I ordered arrived, though, and I took it out and admired it! Oh, I started a written piece on Tuesday. We'll see if it develops all the way into a workable poem. Yesterday, I primed some sanded pieces and sanded some stripped pieces for a project I am working on. The everyday updating has certainly fallen apart. But I am continuing to work on some art thing nearly every day.

I think I am going to have to start giving some concentrated effort in a more limited number of art areas soon. Well, I know I am - with the revival and burning of Cathartica that Dotti and I have in mind for Freezer Burn. But after that - I need to pick things, maybe, and concentrate on them for periods in order to improve. Perhaps. What do you think of that?

Art some days update

I have decided that this is a "No guilt" project. So I cannot give myself a hard time for having skipped some days. That is not permission, however, to skip any more. :D

creative play

Today I designed two card size molas and started a third design.
The first is flames, the second a woman on the beach. THe third is a hand, and may be the start of a series on the senses. So far they have been drawn and colored. I may scan them tomorrow. Perhaps tomorrow I will also find the fabric and start sewing them.

I also started writing a bit of something I may want to draw, or tell the story of - the wanderer I mentioned earlier today. We'll see.

if you need a prompt

you can find one here.

So far, I haven't found them too helpful. But today I pulled Weary way-worn wanderer. I'd love it if some others playing art everyday with me would tackle this prompt with me. I am curious to see the very many directions such a prompt can lead. I am writing out what it brought to my mind, but it is better suited for animation. I won't say yet, as I am curious what others would come up with, and I don't want to color that.

creative play

My camera is suffering, so I'll just give descriptions.

Today I did a few things. I drew fire on a newspaper page. I cut pictures from magazines. I made a turquois colored tissue carnation, then painted the edges with copper nail polish. It is set on a copper wire stem. I paired it with other items, some l;ace, a tin bird, some other things. I am assembling them in a box to hang on the wall. It is incomplete.
Friday and Saturday I made notes on inspirations, and a few thumbnail sketches.

What are you all doing for your creative play?

meandering thoughts on art everyday

The E I drew the other day is kind of typical of what I do when playing around, with pencils, with ink, with crayons. Some of my small metal stuff resembles this as well. The medium and larger metal work has its own feel, I think.
My paintings have a feel all their own, different from these others. I don't think I've posted any here. Read more... )

In standard fashion, I gave myself an art assignment so I turned my attention to cleaning and organizing the house.
TK and I went to the Hideout to see Apocalypse Meow - the 5th level Improv Class presentation. What fun!
I came home and wanted to sketch, but have misplaced my color pencils. So I started this sketch which I eventually want to paint of the shelter cave at Flat Creek. Then I played around with the photo special effects. It is just a sketchbook type thing - needs more development. But at least I got out a pencil and got something down.

NaNoWriMo alternative again

I am not writing a novel. Though I think it would be a cool thing to do, I don't think my brain is arranged that way. Also, I feel I have absolutely no idea how to go about it.

So, I will go along with a companion challenge for myself.
Daily art for the month.
I will create a 30-day art journal, documenting what I am doing.

While I am at it, do y'all prefer pictures and the like to be behind a cut or on the same page? (I generally like same-page posts, so I don't lose my space on the page when I click the cut).

Also, anyone want to join me?

Did you enjoy something you did yesterday? Were you proud of something you did yesterday? Did you learn something yesterday? Were you treated with respect yesterday?

oh, breszny....

In astrology, the word "quincunx" refers to
a relationship characterized by creative tension. Two planets that are in
quincunx are like two people who have a certain odd affinity for each
other but don't speak the same language. Imagine an Italian woman and
an American man meeting at a party and experiencing an immediate
chemistry, even though each can barely understand what the other is
saying. I bring this up, Capricorn, because these days you're in a quincunx
dynamic with pretty much the whole world. To keep frustration to a
minimum and enhance the excitement quotient, you should try to crack
some of the foreign codes you're surrounded by.

(reminder to self: your favorite state is one of creative tension. ready, set. GO!!!!!)
(also, remember, skillful enthusiasm! = best of both worlds)

I was apparently misinformed about the photo that was sent to me of the mountain lion. However, there is a mountain lion out near Flat Creek - or at least we had one. I am not sure of its most recent sighting, but am certain of a sighting in 07.
Thank you all for contributing to the thread, and the one on facebook. I am embarrassed now to have posted it, but am not sure how I could have confirmed the info ahead of time. I will stick to posting my own pictures from now on.

stardust - more links

This is Margaret's blog about Bamberger Ranch. I have included two - the one she posted when she was first diagnosed, and the tribute to her posted upon her death. J. David and his staff are going to continue the Blog, giving updates on the goings on at the ranch. The most recent one is on the trees in bloom out there.
